Video Ad Production in Masvingo
Tourism, agriculture and a steady stream of visitors heading for Great Zimbabwe.
Masvingo has something most Zimbabwean towns do not: a steady flow of people who are not from there. Great Zimbabwe brings visitors, Lake Mutirikwi brings weekenders, and the road south to Beitbridge brings traffic through constantly.
That changes what advertising has to do. You are not only talking to people who already know you.
Tourism and hospitality
For a lodge, a guesthouse or a restaurant here, a large share of your customers are deciding from somewhere else, on a phone, having never seen the place.
They are choosing on feel. Whether it looks like somewhere they want to wake up, whether it looks safe and well run, whether it looks worth the drive. A photograph struggles with all three. Video is simply better suited to the job.
One useful discipline: make separate adverts for separate audiences. A Harare family planning a weekend and an international visitor booking a night near the ruins are choosing on quite different things. One advert trying to speak to both usually persuades neither — which is a good argument for the four-ad campaign set rather than a single spot.
Agriculture
The other side of the local economy, and a very different job. Here the buyer is another business, and the question is whether you are a reliable supplier at a consistent grade.
Most agri businesses in the province have no video at all. That is an easy advantage to take, because looking like a serious operation is most of the sale.
Retail and the passing trade
If your customers include people driving through, your advertising is competing for a decision made quickly by someone who does not know the town. Clear, simple, and specific about what you have beats clever every time.
How it works
Send a photo and a sentence on WhatsApp. Forty-eight hours later you have a finished advert. The studio is in Gweru, about 180km away, and since nothing has to travel that distance costs you nothing in time or money.
- Do you work with lodges and guesthouses?
- Yes. Accommodation is one of the strongest fits, because the guest is choosing on feel and a still photograph rarely carries it.
- Can you make something for tourists rather than locals?
- Yes, and it should be a different advert. A domestic weekend visitor and an international traveller are choosing on different things, and one ad aimed at both usually persuades neither.
- How far is Masvingo from your studio?
- About 180km. It makes no practical difference, because production can run remotely from your photos or footage.
- We are a farming business. Is this relevant?
- It can be. Agricultural buyers judge suppliers on whether the operation looks serious, and most agri businesses here have no video at all.
Send one clear photo, or footage you already have, and a line about what the ad has to do. Most of the work happens in the studio, so there is rarely anything to schedule.
