Video Ad Production in Chitungwiza
Dense, busy and full of small businesses that have never been able to afford an advert.
Chitungwiza is one of the largest urban populations in Zimbabwe and one of the most densely packed with small business. Tuckshops, salons, hardware, takeaways, phone repair, building supply — thousands of them, mostly competing on the same few streets for the same customers.
Almost none of them have ever run an advert, because advertising has always been priced for somebody else.
Why the price matters more here than anywhere
A production quote in the hundreds is not a hard decision for a business in Chitungwiza — it is not a decision at all. It is simply out of range, so the question never gets asked.
Forty dollars is a different kind of number. It is small enough to be an experiment. That is precisely why the price is what it is, and it is the reason we would rather sell many small adverts to businesses that come back than a few large ones to businesses that do not return.
Where video actually helps in a market like this
When you are one of several. Five salons on a street, all posting the same kind of photo. The one that looks like a business rather than a person with a phone gets the call.
When you are selling to people who cannot see you. Delivery, orders taken by WhatsApp, customers from the next suburb who need a reason to travel.
When you have a promotion with a deadline. Video makes urgency land in a way a text post does not.
Where it does not
If your customers are the people who walk past your door every day and already know you, an advert is not your problem. Be honest with yourself about that before spending, and we will be honest with you too.
What you need
A phone, a clear photo taken in daylight, and one sentence about what you want the advert to do. Nothing else. No computer, no logo file, no meeting.
Start with one
One advert. Forty dollars. Run it, watch what happens over a fortnight, and decide from what you see rather than from what anyone told you would happen.
If it works, the four-ad set at $100 is the next step. If it does not, you have spent $40 finding out, which is a far better outcome than never knowing.
- Is $40 really the full price?
- Yes. One advert, up to 30 seconds, with voiceover, music and grade included. 50% to begin and the balance on approval, by EcoCash. There is no separate production fee.
- I run a small shop. Is this worth it for me?
- Only you can judge that, and we would rather you tried one advert than committed to a package. If forty dollars is a meaningful amount to your business, spend it once and see what happens before spending it again.
- I only have a phone. Can I still do this?
- That is what the whole process assumes. Photo on your phone, WhatsApp message, finished advert back on your phone.
- What if the ad does not bring me customers?
- Then it did not work, and we would rather you knew that after $40 than after $400. Anyone promising guaranteed results from one advert is selling you something.
Send one clear photo, or footage you already have, and a line about what the ad has to do. Most of the work happens in the studio, so there is rarely anything to schedule.
